It is with this motto that, University Maharani College embarked on its journey of providing opportunities For higher education to girls. The University Maharani College stands apart as an epitome of Foresightedness of its founders, hard work of its staff and has paved the way for women’s Education in the feudal state of Rajasthan. The college has grown leaps and bounds ever Since its inception. Established on 1st August 1944 with only 11 girls and 3 teachers in Madho Vilas under the patronage of the royal family especially Maharani Gayatri Devi, and called Intermediate College for Women, it has witnessed a meteoric rise and reached its present Strength of more than 8000 students. Today it is Asia’s largest multi faculty college.

The Founder Principal Smt. SavitriBhartiya, instilled a deep sense Of responsibility and enthusiasm in the students and staff which continues even today. On 12th August 1947 it moved To its present premises and was rechristened ‘Maharani College’. Maharani College became a Part of the University as a constituent college in the year 1962.The college stands as a testimonial to the visits of stalwarts like Dr.Zakir Hussain, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Shri Jai Narain Vyas, Shri Mohan LalSukhadia, Smt. Academic life here is ‘oriented through offering undergraduate courses in Arts, science and commerce streams. Besides the regular Pass course and Honors courses in all the three Faculties, it also offers several innovative courses as SFS courses to prepare the students for Their professional life. Technical courses such as, Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Languages like Urdu and Persian are also taught on regular basis as one of The optional subjects. Fine Arts, Music, Hobby Dance and Home Science are also an important Part of the curriculum.

Our students’ success cannot be defined by marks and qualifications alone.The College nurtures students as dynamic and impactful global citizens, equipped to play a leading role in whichever walk of life they choose. To achieve this, students are encouraged to participate in the extensive array of opportunities beyond the classroom. They are rewarded for their excellence in academic and co-curricular activities by bestowing on them gold medals and awards sponsored by philanthropists. A total of 52 gold medals and 15 cups for academic and extracurricular achievements are awarded annually. There is an elected Student’s Union that plays a central role in representing the views of our students. Additionally, various cultural societies actively contribute to the vibrant campus life, organizing and participating in diverse activities. From the session 2023-24 , The curriculum and extra curricular activities have been actively reconstructed as per New Education Policy,2020 marking a beginning of semester system.
